On Monday, Elon Musk’s company Xai and X submitted a comprehensive US cartel lawsuit against Apple and Openaai, in which the Tech giants have made an illegal partnership to suppress the competition for artificial intelligence and smartphone markets.
The 61-page complaint, which was submitted in front of a federal court in Texas, accuses Apple and Openai to have completed an exclusive offer, integrated the Openas Chatgpt into the only generative Ki-Chatbot in the iPhone operating system of Apple and at the same time blocked rivals such as Xai’s GROK.
“This is a story of two monopolists who merging to ensure their continuing dominance in a world that is quickly driven by the most powerful technology that humanity has ever created: artificial intelligence,” says the lawsuit.
The plaintiffs claim that Apple holds 65 percent of the US smartphone market, while Openaai controls at least 80 percent of the generative KI chat bot market via Chatgpt.
Apple and Openaai announced their partnership in June 2024 and made Chatgpt an exclusive AI assistant who is accessible via the Siri Voice Assistant from Apple and other iPhone functions.
In the lawsuit it is claimed that this Agreement Chatgpt enables exclusive access to “billions of users” of hundreds of millions of iPhone users.
Apple also accuses the complaint of manipulating App Store rankings to prefer Chatgpt and at the same time delay the approval of updates for the GROK app.
Musk companies are looking for billions of compensation and a permanent injunction to stop the alleged competitive practices. You have requested a legal proceedings.
“This latest registration is in line with Mr. Musk’s continued nuisance pattern,” Openai told AFP in an explanation.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
The lawsuit follows the threats that Musk made at the beginning of this month, which triggered a fiery exchange with the CEO of Openaai, Sam Altman.
Altman named Musk’s accusation of calling manipulation as “remarkable” and accused that Musk himself “benefits” to benefit from himself and his own companies and to benefit his competitors and people he does not like “.
Musk called Altman as “liar” in heated exchange.
Both men were original founders of Openai before the departure of Musk in 2018 and now have a very conflicting relationship.
Musk founded Xai in 2023 to compete with Openaai and other big AI players who have put the first version of the first version of Openas Chatgpt into the AI since the blockbuster start of the first version of Openas Chatgpt.
