Jack Draper is optimistic about another strong performance at the US Open after recovering from an arm injury.
The British number one was back into the semi -finals 12 months ago at the scene of his run, but his opening game against qualifying Federico Agustin Gomez on Monday will be his first more than seven weeks ago since his second round against Marin Cilic in Wimbledon in Wimbledon.

Draper revealed that he had played with pain in his left arm, which was diagnosed as bone breeding, and forced him to miss the Masters 1000 events in Canada and Cincinnati.
“I felt it for the first time in the middle of the sound season,” he said. “I had the feeling that my arm was driven a little when I was cursy and also on the serve.
“It got a little worse. Then it got pretty painful. So I didn’t know what to do. After the grass I let it check it out. I had a little bone stress, bone bleeding in my humerus on my left side.
“It is one of those who, if you continued to play with it, could be very, very serious. So I had to take some time.

“Having hard injuries, but definitely one that I had to take care of.”

Draper refused to accuse the injury to his disappointing execution in Wimbledon, but he strives for his preferred hard dishes, the dynamics that he set up at the beginning of the year.
After Draper won his first Masters tournament in Indian Wells in March, he was the formal player on the tour. The injury will not affect his chances in New York.
“I have trained the last month or so much, physically really hard, and that feels really good about myself mentally,” said the 23-year-old.

“It is an injury that takes time to heal. It could make me a little uncomfortable, that’s sure. It is not something that I will go out on Monday and feel like I can hold back at all.”
Draper has already played at least a few competition points on Flushing Meadows this year after it made the semi -finals of the revised mixed twice together with American Jessica Pegula.
He hopes that the rust will prevent and says: “It was perfect for me because I hadn’t had a competition, I didn’t feel like I was playing in front of people, and this kind of things for a while.

“I think it was a really positive experience for me, and I definitely feel much sharper after playing it instead of maybe having a training week.”
