The EFL has announced that the third round of the Carabao Cup will have changes to the draw before Newcastle’s admission to defend its crown.
The Carabao Cup third-round draw will have special conditions for the 2024/25 season due to the extended European competition calendar.

As a Premier League Club, which takes part in the European competition, Newcastle entered the League Cup in the third round, which includes 32 clubs.
The draw will take place on Wednesday, August 27, to Grimsby Town against Manchester United Live on Sky Sports.
The devices for the third round will take place in the weeks from September 15th and 22nd.
Champions League and Europa League games are also planned during these weeks.
The additional conditions mean that clubs in the Champions League or in the Europa League cannot compete against each other in the third round of the league.
This ensures that all clubs can play their games.

The English football league (EFL) said that these changes were necessary for the second season due to the planning decisions from UEFA.
The EFL has stated that these conditions are not required for the fourth rounds.
The draw uses two separate shells: one for the eight Champions League and Europa League clubs and one for the remaining 24 clubs.
A VERDRAW will determine whether the eight Champions League and Europa League teams will play at home or on the go.
