Defenders confident that they can make a positive phase after stuttering

Sam Long is not stuck by Oxford United’s start of the season and is confident that the team can later be a positive phase in the campaign.

The Us lost all three opening games of the Sky Bet Championship of the season, with the defeats in Portsmouth and Hull City on Saturday in Birmingham City with 1-0 defeat in Birmingham City.

United is the second from below in the table, above the only other senseless team in Sheffield United.

Long said: “It was a difficult beginning, but last year when the gaffer came in, we won the first three, but then we didn’t win nine games later.

“This season we will give spells in which we do not win for a period of time, and then we make a series and a period of the win of games and good results.

“This is the championship season. We have to bring every game and try to record as many points as possible.

“It is the third game of the season.

Long added: “Everyone can beat everyone in this division. We saw this last year and even this year with results elsewhere.

“Everyone beats someone. It is a difficult league. We just have to concentrate on ourselves and try to put as many points on the board as possible, and when we concentrate on ourselves, I think we are doing well.”

It was generally recognized that the championship of this season is a more difficult compared to the previous campaign.

The relegation pages of the Premier League – Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton – are expected to compete at the upper end of the championship, while the three promoted teams from League One have strongly strengthened in the summer transfer window.

As they found out against Birmingham, the blues have a talented squad with Demarai Gray, Kyogo Furuhashi and Jay Stansfield.

The blues won the title of League One last season with a record football League points (111), while Charlton Athletic and Wrexham are competitive this season.

Long said: “It is a more difficult division than last year, and it is something we talked about and we know that we have to step on the plate.

“You have [Birmingham] Spent a lot of money this year, but I think you will be a minimum of play-offs this year. I think we can keep a lot of positive people from coming here and going with them. “
