Bluesky users in Mississippi can no longer access the app after the Social Media company has refused to comply with a New -Aage -Aage Review Act.

The platform created by the Twitter founder Jack Dorsey said that the HB 1126 law of the US state “would change the way users access bluesky” due to freedom of speech and impact on privacy.

“We believe that this law creates challenges that go beyond its children’s security goals and creates significant obstacles that restrict the freedom of speech and disproportionately damage smaller platforms and emerging technologies,” said the company in a blog post.

“The security of children has a central priority, and in this developing regulatory landscape we are still obliged to build an open social ecosystem that protects users and at the same time keeps the selection and innovation.”

Bluesky already corresponds to the old -fashioned laws in other jurisdiction, including the online security law of Great Britain, but claimed that Mississippi’s approach was too complex to comply with a small platform.

The online security law obliges the age review so that users can access adult content. However, the HB 1126 law continues to require all users to be verified.

This would include the establishment of new infrastructure and compliance monitoring systems that go beyond the resources of the relatively small team of bluesky.

Some Bluesky users outside of Mississippi seem to have been involved in the block due to cell providers who led the traffic across the state.

Paul Frazee, Chief Technology Officer from Blusesky, said the company “worked on using an update for our location recognition” to fix the problem.
